Any business involved in road transport for hire and reward, operating vehicles in excess of 3.5tonne, requires a Goods Vehicle Operators Licence ( 'O Licence').
To obtain an 'O Licence' the business must have an employee or advisor who holds a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) relevant to the nature of their operations. Businesses only operating within the UK require a National CPC, whereas businesses involved in International transportation would require the International CPC as well.
The examinations are administered by OCR and are held 4 times a year.
Courses are held prior to each exam sitting. The CPC National course is 5 days and will prepare the candidate for the 3 exams required to be passed in order to obtain the qualification. The CPC International course is 3 days long and prepares the candidate for 1 examination.
Examinations are held in March, June, September & December.
