About ELGV

DRIVER CPC & PERIODIC TRAINING

All Large Goods Vehicle drivers who drive vocationally require a Driver CPC with effect from 10th September 2009.

New drivers will be required to take additional tests to acquire their Driver CPC and will then be required to undertake 35 hours of Periodic Training in every subsequent five year period.

Existing drivers are required to undertake 35 hours of Periodic Training in every five year period i.e. before 10th September 2014.

This training must be course approved by the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) and delivered at a JAUPT approved training centre.

Enterprise has JAUPT approval and offer a range of courses to ensure ongoing driver development.

For new drivers a one day training course is available to enable them to pass the driver CPC tests.  The course covers the requirements for both the theory and practical modules.

Driver CPC Periodic Training
There is a regular programme of 1 day (7hr) courses to ensure continuous driver development.  Additionally, a 3.5 day ADR course can be counted as 21 hours of Periodic Training.
