The Hazard Perception element of the theory test last about 20 minutes. You will be shown a sample clip and a brief tutorial video clip that helps you understand what you need to do.
You will be shown a series of 14 video clips. Each clip shows at least one developing hazard. When you spot a developing hazard that may cause the driver to avoiding action such as changing speed or direction you should press the mouse button to record your response. Each time you press the button a red flag will appear on the bottom of the screen, noting your response. Your responses will not alter the video clip in any way.
There will be a short pause between the clips. This is to allow you to familiarise yourself with the surroundings before the next clip begins.
In the 14 clips there are 15 scoreable hazards. Each hazard spotted is worth 5 points, a possible total of 75. The current pass mark for LGV and PCV drivers 50 or more.
You need to pass both the Hazard Perception and Multi Choice sections of the Theory Test to pass.
